Hi, I'm Stephen Schaffold.
I believe that within all of us lies a creative child, yearning for escape, longing for expression, and hungering for a chance to show the world what it is capable of. We are at our most expressive selves as children. Untethered from cultural standards and societal norms, we as children are able to freely create anything our imaginations can conjure up. It is only later in life, when we become conscious of ourselves engaging in play (or self-consciousness), do we begin to question the integrity of what we are doing.
We become aware that others are watching us, critiquing us, and attempting to stifle the creative inspiration that is allowing such play to occur, lest we appear "abnormal" or "embarrass" ourselves. We are molded into a bi-product of the very society that sets the rules, provides us with codes of conduct, and tells us what we should and should not be, do, say, think, have, or even wear on our bodies. It's no wonder that the creative freedom we enjoyed in our youth becomes buried deep within us as we grow older...after all, we don't want to be outcasts, do we?
I am here to tell you that you don't have to play by society's rules any more. It is time to reclaim the ingenuity, imaginativeness, originality, individuality, and expressiveness that is your birth-right! Now is the time to release the buried child within, and to allow yourself to shine once more!
